FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Harm reduction, our programs, and how to get involved.
- Harm reduction is a public-health approach that meets people where they are. Instead of demanding abstinence, it focuses on practical strategies — like drug checking, safer-use supplies, naloxone, and peer support — that reduce the risks of substance use and keep people alive and connected to care. See our programs and resources for more.
- We serve the Greater Boston area, partnering with venues, promoters, colleges, and community groups across Massachusetts. Our July 2026 – July 2027 Pop-Up Pilot brings volunteer-led harm reduction stations to events throughout the region.
- Yes. Every service we offer at outreach — water, electrolytes, earplugs, safer-use supplies, condoms, fentanyl test strips, peer support, and naloxone training — is free, anonymous, and judgment-free. We never ask for ID or personal information. See our privacy policy for details.
- We are actively recruiting volunteers for events starting January 2027. Apply through our volunteer page — no prior experience required, and we provide all training in harm reduction, de-escalation, and naloxone administration.
- Venues, promoters, colleges, and organizations can request a pop-up harm reduction station, a naloxone training, or a custom workshop. Submit a partnership inquiry through our partner page and we'll follow up within a few days.
- Yes — donations directly fund supplies (fentanyl test strips, naloxone, water, safer-use kits), operations, and volunteer training. Visit our Get Involved page or use the Donate button in the site header or footer.
- Call 911 immediately, administer naloxone (Narcan) if available, place the person on their side in the recovery position, and stay with them until help arrives. Massachusetts' Good Samaritan Law protects both the person overdosing and the person calling for help from drug-possession charges. Find more overdose-response info on our resources page.
